Your new company Our client is the public face of municipal waste management in Worcestershire and Herefordshire An initial 25 year contract with Worcestershire County Council and the Herefordshire Council in December 1998 under the Private Finance Initiative. This contract brought an integrated waste management service to the two counties, leading to the more sustainable management of municipal waste.
When the Company started its work in Worcestershire and Herefordshire in 1998, over 90% of municipal waste from the two counties was landfilled.
Since that time our client have invested in a range of activities which, in parallel with initiatives driven by the County and District authorities have helped to reduce landfilling to less than 30%.
The most notable achievements have been:
- Improvements and performance of Household Waste Recycling centres where recycling rates are now generally above 70%
- Delivery of the EnviRecover Energy from Waste Facility through which energy is recovered from the residual waste that cannot be recycled, generating electricity for export to the national grid
- Delivery of the EnviroSort Materials Reclamation Facility through which pass all the kerbside recyclable materials collected by the Districts.
- Progressive increase in the quantity of green waste composted and resultant soil conditioner utilised, which has contributed to the process of moving waste up the 'Waste Hierarchy.'
- Investing in waste transfer facilities for the safe, secure, and efficient transport of waste from the point of arisings to treatment or disposal site.
- Through ongoing service improvements and education and awareness-raising, we have in place all the facilities to help the Waste Disposal Authority meet its recycling and composting target
Your new role Responsibilities Include: - Abide by all company and site safety policies and procedures.
- Report all health, safety and environmental concerns, near misses and incidents via the site reporting system.
- Comply with the site Safe System of Work; develop competence under the Safety Rules.
- To ensure that all electrical apparatus is correctly operated and maintained.
- To ensure all site electrical systems and apparatus are tested to the required frequency as dictated by regulations.
- To arrange and monitor maintenance contracts for specialist equipment.
- To recommend plant spares holdings to the Maintenance Manager and support procurement.
- To support the Maintenance Manager where necessary, support with internal, external and compliance Audits
- To establish and work within an Electrical section budget.
- To determine and develop obsolescence plans for electrical equipment and apparatus.
- To support with enhancing cyber security and software baselining and back-up.
- To support Mechanical, Controls and Instrument Engineers as required and during absence.
- To investigate faults on any part of the facility or plant and procure their timely rectification, briefing management on progress.
- Fulfil the role of line manager for the Electrical department
What you'll need to succeed Knowledge / Qualifications
- Must be a qualified electrical engineer, holding a minimum of a Higher National Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of five years relevant experience post-qualification.
- Broad experience of process electrical systems including high and low voltage
- Experience and knowledge with Electrical Diven Actuators and Motors
Ability / Experience
- Ideally from a power station, process plant or similar background.
- Experience of managing a team
- Able to demonstrate experience of managing multiple contractors and maintenance contracts
- Self-discipline/ability to work independently
- Excellent problem solver
What you'll get in return - Salary £59,000 - £62,141 DOE
- Days only working pattern: 07:30 - 16:00 Monday to Friday
- 33 Days holiday (bank holidays must be booked off)
