Post Title: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Motorsports Engineering
SBU/Department: Physics, Engineering and Computer Science – Department of Engineering
FTE: 1.0fte (working 37 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: Permanent
Salary: UH7 Lecturer £37,099 pa to £44,263 pa dependent on skills and experience UH8 Senior Lecturer £44,263 pa to £56,021 pa dependent on skills and experience
Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield

The School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science - Department of Engineering is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Motorsport Engineering to support our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in one or more of the following specific areas: aerodynamics, design, simulation and analysis.

Main duties and responsibilities
You will undertake teaching and assessment in engineering and technology modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will also support learning through design and development of course materials including online content and undertaking necessary tutorial, laboratory and administrative activities.

You will be expected to contribute actively to research interests of the school and develop short courses, commercial and KTP related activities in the school. You will supervise postgraduate research projects and apply for external funding to support research and commercial activities.

Additional for Senior Lecturer
As Senior Lecturer, you will also undertake an administrative role in the School such as module leadership, assisting with programme management, or other similar duties, provide leadership in an aspect of research or commercial activities and undertake other duties within the framework of the post as delegated by the Head of Department or Head of Subject Group.

Skills and experience required
You must have experience of working in the Motorsport subject area within Higher Education or in a relevant sector. In addition to this you will need proven experience of teaching or tutoring at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. You must have a strong commitment to teaching, learning and student support at University level and a potential willingness to attract external funding in research. You will have demonstrable proficiency in English Language, with excellent oral and written communication skills. You must have a strong desire to enthuse and engage our students and be effective within a team setting. We will also expect from you a willingness to develop module and programme level material whilst also demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement and to undertake professional qualifications where appropriate.

For the role of Senior Lecturer, you must have substantial experience of working in motorsports subject area or closely related areas. You will also be required to have a strong track record of research publications and/or industrial experience and evidence of securing external funding. In addition to this, you must have the knowledge and demonstrable experience to contribute to the School's teaching and research areas.

Qualifications required
You must hold a minimum of a first degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering or a related subject area.
