Location: Wellingborough- Specialist Plant Associates
Contract: Apprentice
Hours: Full Time

Equipment that you will be working on includes:
Tunnelling machines
SPA own and operate a fleet of tunnelling machines ranging from 0.6M diameter to 3.0M diameter which are used both on UK projects and overseas projects, equipment is prepared for hire and fully tested and commissioned before dispatch. The preparation of the equipment will involve working on hydraulic and pneumatic systems as well as other ancillary equipment and fabrication works.
Ventilation equipment
We own and operate a range of specialist ventilation equipment used predominantly on tunnelling works, the equipment undergoes full refurbishment and testing process before dispatch, this involves stripping all components of the fan and replacing all worn or damaged parts.
Hyperbaric equipment
SPA is the largest provider of hyperbaric chambers in the UK, the equipment is used on both tunnelling and marine works all over the world, once again equipment is stripped and checked before dispatch
Specialist tunnelling equipment
This includes shaft jacking equipment, power packs, pneumatic and electrically driven mixing equipment and pumps, concrete pumps, and robotic spraying equipment as well as a host of other items of plant.
Specialist separation equipment
As part of our equipment range, we operate slurry separation and screening equipment as well as centrifuge systems and dosing systems
As part of your apprenticeship, you will be actively involved in the preparation for hire of all this equipment and will learn extensively about hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as well as electrical control systems, fabrication and welding and multiple other engineering skills.
Please note that this is a physical job and a hands on approach is required.
