Job description
We at Chefs Bay are recruiting two Chefs for a client of ours based on the outskirts of Basingstoke.
Our client is a Café & Grocery store in a rural setting on the outskirts of Basingstoke who require a full time and a part time chef. The site includes a large café with a kitchen and retail space that stocks locally sourced produce, and deli items such as charcuterie and cheese, breads and patisserie.

General Purpose:
To produce and cook the food for sale in the farm shop and to produce food items for retail sale in the farm shop when appropriate. To input into the development of menus and ensure the implementation of the company’s HACCP policy and food hygiene and safety procedures.
MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- To produce the food to order
- To produce retail items for sale in the shop when necessary and to avoid waste
- To manage the specials board so that it is varied and lessens the likelihood of waste
- To organise the kitchen and its resources
- To ensure the kitchen is clean and well organised so that the café can obtain a 5 star food hygiene rating
- To ensure targets, when set are met
- To engage with the marketing team to promote the café and its food
- To make the most of seasonal and local produce whenever possible
- Maintain and build relationships with key suppliers
- Manage stock control and stock rotation (FIFO),
- Quality control of products leaving the kitchen
- To embrace the H&S regulations and the requisite procedures involving Food Safety
- To adhere to Honesty values and ethos
- To work with the coffee shop to ensure great customer satisfaction
- To ensure that the kitchen is reaching its maximum productivity potential
