Job description

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES To liaise with members of the health care team and patients families to discuss care appropriate to individual patients. To have a patient focussed approach to care, ensuring that each individual patient has the best care possible. To be motivated to acquire new skills and knowledge. To be responsible for the accurate documentation of nursing information and be aware of the necessity, at all times, for effective written and verbal communication. To utilise the best practice available, utilising research and/or evidence based practice at all times. To support both senior and junior members of staff and students, demonstrating commitment and loyalty to the profession and the Directorate. To help create a positive working environment for all members of the health care team, promoting positive working practices at all times. To attend and participate in department meetings, helping to implement change as required. To attend a regular performance review with the Ward Sister, Charge Nurse or Senior Nurse. To assist in the ordering and storage of supplies ensuring that the most cost effective use is made of resources. To accept personal responsibility for identifying own educational needs and professional development. To assist with teaching, mentoring and the supervision of staff, thus actively participating in maintaining a positive clinical learning environment. To advise patients, where appropriate on the promotion of health and the prevention of illness and accidents.
