Job summary

As a Process Development Engineer, you will provide technical expertise and leadership to implement novel manufacturing technologies as well as supporting new product introduction. This will involve ownership of key projects from conception through to qualification and manufacturing release. This role provides the opportunity to deliver solutions to material and integration challenges faced with hybrid microelectronic packaging and advanced electronic and optoelectronic assemblies.

Main responsibilities:

• Provide leadership in the choice of materials and development of manufacturing processes
• Serve as a subject matter expert on manufacturing technologies, interfacing with design, manufacturing departments as well as with customers for multi-channel optical communications products.
• Liaise with and guide unit development packages with process engineering
• Provide support for new products in manufacturing
• Generate and maintain associated manufacturing documents
• Working with Quality group, define and execute qualification plans to release new products/capabilities
• Work with external suppliers/contractors to evaluate new process capabilities
• Communicate project status and technical updates to management

Qualifications

• HND or Bachelor/Masters Degree in an Engineering discipline

Knowledge and Experience

• Proven experience in process engineering and manufacturing support
• Practical understanding of microelectronics assembly
• Familiarity with Aerospace, Semiconductor, Microelectronics or similar industries
• Competency in any or all of the following is desirable: Optical and Microelectronic package assembly / Materials science / Manufacturing process development and optimisation / Technical report writing / Operator training
• Familiarity with: Clean room environments / High reliability microelectronics design and development / Electronic test methodologies / Industry quality standards / ERP / MRP systems

• Excellent diagnostic and complex problem solving capability
• Meticulous attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
• A creative approach to generating new ideas
• High initiative – requires minimal prompting, keen to learn
• Good project management skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills across all levels
• Ability to deal with ambiguity

Other requirements

• Some travel may be required
• SC clearance or ability to obtain
