Job description
Junior Buyer
A successful manufacturing business require a Junior Buyer and can offer CIPS sponsorship. Applicants could have previous procurement or supply chain experience, looking to transition into the sector or be a recent university graduate.
Junior Buyer's Responsibilities
The Junior Buyer will work within a supply chain team of Buyers and Production Planners, reporting to a Procurement Manager. The Junior Buyer will predominately be responsible for operational purchasing activities, but tasks will grow in complexity as familiarity with the business increases.
Specific duties of the Junior Buyer include:
- Raise, place and expedite purchase orders in-line with manufacturing requirements
- Supplier liaison - monitor performance through KPIs and foster collaborative relationships
- Contribute to procurement department cost down targets
- Support on procurement projects
- Working with colleagues in regards to procurement process improvement
Junior Buyer requirements:
- Experience in purchasing or supply chain, looking to transition into a Buyer role or recent graduate
- Strong IT skills - familiarity with MS packages, a business or MRP/ERP system
- Collaborative and relationship building skills
- The ambition to study for formal qualifications
- Experience of sourcing components
