Quantity Surveyor

Consortio Recruitment has partnered with a leading Civil Engineering company with a fantastic turnover of £250 Million. With a new office in the North West, we are looking to hire a Quantity Surveyor with Groundworks experience. This is a fantastic time to be joining them in their history which started in the 90s. You will be joining a team already in place in this new office, which consists of a Senior QS, Trainee QS, Assistant QS, and an Estimators. You will be involved with groundwork projects with leading house builders in the North West. What we are looking for
Quantity Surveyor
- Located in commutable daily distance from Warrington
- Groundworks experience ideally
- General Knowledge of contractual terms within construction.
- Excellent PC skills, in particular Excel.Strong mathematical ability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Skilled at gathering and interpreting data and information.
- Ability to produce a range of cost-value reports.Effective communicator (written and verbal).Identify and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- High level of confidentiality and discretion.Team player.
- Resilient and focused.
- Ability to establish and build positive relationships.
- Clean driving license.
Responsibilities
- Measure all site works accurately, for value recovery and to minimise costs.
- Prepare and review tenders with estimators assisting with understanding the client's requirements and offering value engineering.
- Provide early cost advice to clients on variations, ensuring only authorised variations are undertaken.
- Understand construction issues, offer advice on drawings, and works, and ensure projects have all current drawings / up-to-date information to work from.Identify commercial risks and provide appropriate solutions/responses.
- Understand Company procurement and its impact on job cost/performance.
- Undertake costs analysis working with Company buyers and advise on procurement/cost control.
- Value completed work, ensuring timely payments.
- Understand the importance of cash flow and timely payments, including retention payments.
- Build strong relationships with client staff and Company production staff.
- Allocate work to sub-contractors including assistance with procurement when required.Have a good knowledge of various construction contracts.
- Assist with the development of any assistants/trainees.
- Understand the principles of safety on-site/company projects.
- Support the Safety Director and safety team in the application of our policy and practice.
- Ensure that any concerns are addressed immediately with the support of the safety team and/or Directors as appropriate.
