The role of Guarantee Vision Engineer is a technically rewarding role within NEP UK’s Vision & VT team. Working with colleagues in the UK and across the NEP group on a wide range of rewarding projects.
You will work with our fleet of outside broadcast trucks, fly-pack systems and the London Production Centre, working in both SDI and IP architectures. Our engineers deliver projects across the globe for clients in UHD and HD as well as HDR and SDR. Many of our projects utilise new and emerging technologies to provide turnkey solutions for our clients to meet their editorial and budgetary requirements, across multiple genres including sport, entertainment, and reality strands.
Whilst you will be UK based, regular international travel will be required in this role.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Guarantee Broadcast Engineer in the preparation and delivery of large outside broadcasts, both at our base in Bracknell and onsite at various locations, domestically and internationally.
- Build fly-pack systems, under the guidance of a Senior Broadcast Engineer, from a client specifications
- First-line fault-finding and repair of a range of broadcast and AV audio and video equipment; minimising loss of service at times of equipment failure by rapidly identifying and implementing temporary workarounds.
- Interpret and implement instructions and requests from clients, producers, directors and other colleagues.
- Take direction from the Technical Project Manager(s) / Unit Manager(s), Head of Operations and Head of Engineering & Technology prior to an OB to ensure that the correct equipment is booked and loaded. Work across the business to best use company assets and practices.
Skills / Qualifications
- Either
- Degree/HND level (or equivalent) in a relevant technical or scientific discipline;
- Vocational qualification in a media engineering technology field; or
- Strong evidence of suitable in work learning, development, and deployment, complimented with relevant practical and theoretical training.
- Previous experience working in outside broadcast facilities.
- A comprehensive understanding of the production practices and engineering workflows adopted in outside broadcast.
- Networking and IP infrastructure knowledge.
- Ability to develop an exceptional rapport with clients whilst understanding potential commercial sensitivities.
