The opportunity
As Junior Data Transformation Engineer, you will be part of the multi-function Data Engineering Team that own the Azure Synapse service and support the design and develop pipelines for data transformation into the Azure Synapse Data Lake, Azure SQL Data Warehouse and out to Power BI. In addition, you'll be required to support legacy data processes (SSIS /SSRS) and data migrations as required.

Key Accountabilities:
- Support the design and then maintain the Azure SQL / Synapse meta data framework for Data Engineering
- Support the development of Azure Synapse pipelines
- Perform data transformations as per mapping documents
- Support the development of Azure Synapse pipelines for audit capture, error, and exception handling
- Automate Azure Synapse pipelines and Report Layer jobs using scheduling tools
- Promote adherence to the overall Data Engineering standards
- Challenge and seek clarification on data mappings/ rules via Data Analysts
- Challenge and seek clarification on data transformation logic / business rules via Business Analysts
- Create and maintain Technical Specifications
- Support the data office and other data consumers within the organisation
- Data extracts from Legacy systems
- Migration of data and processes from legacy systems to Azure Synapse
- Identifying improvements to existing processes and helping to migrate data and modelling into Azure Synapse
What will you need to succeed?
Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge
- Experience with SQL Server (TSQL)
- Experience in Agile working
- Experience with Cloud services (Microsoft Azure preferably)
- SSIS, SSRS
- SQL Server 2012 and above esp. SSIS/SSRS 2017 (SSIS Catalog)
- Strong TSQL
- Data modelling fundamentals
- Power BI
- Data Warehouse and Report Layer design
- Experience of D365
- Experience of data testing
