Position Summary:

A payment architect is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing payment solutions, such as card or mobile payments. They collaborate with various teams, including sales, product, analytics, and engineering, to ensure the successful design and implementation of payment solutions. The role involves participating in understanding, structuring, and inception meetings to design solutions from the early stages, as well as ensuring that the architectural solutions align with service portfolio and demands. Payment architects also stay updated on new trends and technologies within the payments area and perform continuous improvement initiatives within their domain. They are expected to have a strong analytical background, broad experience in payment solutions, and expertise in technical modeling and documentation. Additionally, knowledge of payment security protocols such as PCI DSS is required.

The key responsibilities of a payment architect typically include:

· Designing, developing, and implementing payment solutions for various platforms and applications, such as web, mobile, and e-commerce, ensuring they meet functional, non-functional, security, and compliance requirements

o Integrating and configuring payment gateways, processors, and providers, and ensuring the scalability, reliability, security, and compliance of the payment systems

o .Performing testing, debugging, and optimization of payment systems and components, as well as monitoring and analyzing their performance and availability

o Providing technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the development team, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and architect robust payment solutions for clients and partners

o Staying up-to-date with industry regulations, standards, best practices, and emerging payment technologies, and recommending improvements and enhancements to payment solutions

o Creating and maintaining detailed technical documentation, including architectural diagrams, specifications, and implementation guidelines

o These responsibilities require a strong knowledge of payment systems, protocols, security, compliance requirements, as well as experience in solution design, cloud-based services, and architecture

. The role typically demands a bachelor's or master's degree in a related field and several years of experience working specifically within payment system solutions, security, and architecture/implementation.
