An opportunity has arisen for a Firmware Engineer to join the Power Conversion department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. Reporting to the Technical Director – Power Conversion, you will be supporting the full life cycle of Fortescue WAE’s Power Conversion Products, covering high power DC/DC power systems used in industrial green energy applications. The fast pace of Fortescue WAE projects will also require support in challenging time frames and across a variety of industry sectors.

Job role:

  • Working with Xilinx MPSoC microprocessors
  • Designing firmware in for power conversion systems
  • IP core design & validation in VHDL/System Verilog
  • Working with hardware engineers to develop automated test equipment
  • Bootloader development
  • Using requirements tracking software
  • Decomposition of system level requirements to detailed software and firmware requirements
  • Firmware test and documentation

You’ll have:

  • Adequate Industrial experience, post graduate with electronics / mechatronics degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in industrial/automotive/aerospace or similar highly regulated industry
  • Experience of firmware development in low level language such as C
  • Experience of RTOS (FreeRTOS/Safe RTOS)
  • Working with CANBus tools (Vector Canalyzer, XCP )
  • Industrial experience, graduate with electronics / mechatronics degree or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of electronics hardware
  • Experience of developing software for high reliability systems (ISO26262, IEC 61508)
