Job Title: Senior Finance Officer
Location: Bedfordshire
Type: Temporary (5-month contract)
Hourly Rate: £24.89/hr
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Finance Officer to join a ocal authority team in Bedfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a solid background in finance, particularly within the context of Local Government.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Financial Analysts and Senior Finance Business Partner.
- Offer financial advice, guidance, and high-quality support to ensure accurate financial forecasts through regular monthly meetings with budget managers.
- Assist directorates with costing and financial management information.
- Monthly reporting and accruals.
- Prepare, review, and analyse annual budgets.
- Closure of accounts, including supporting the service in preparing accruals and ensuring accuracy and appropriateness. This covers both revenue and capital.
- Provide financial support to a specific Directorate (not corporate finance).
- Undertake other adhoc tasks as required.
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous experience in Local Government finance is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in using SAP and Microsoft packages.
- Ability to work independently using own initiative as well as collaboratively as part of a wider team.
- Strong attention to detail.
