Salary: Band D Band D £39,375 - £43,313 Band E £48,802 - £53,682

Hours: Full-time / Part-time

Contract Type: Open Ended.

Location: Science and Technology Facilities Council, Daresbury Laboratory, Warrington, or STFC - Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Didcot, Oxfordshire

The post is particularly suitable for somebody with advanced skills in modelling related to the kinetic simulation of plasmas and/or laser-plasma interactions, relevant to topics such as space charge compensation and plasma-wakefield accelerator modelling. The ideal candidate would be proficient in scientific programming, with a broad interest in HPC, and a good knowledge of PIC methods. Applicants with skills in multi-physics simulations would be welcome. In all cases, candidates will be expected to collaborate with a range of project partners, including industrial, government, and academic researchers, and present results in peer-reviewed journals and major conferences.

Specific responsibilities include:

Ideally, you will hold, or be about to finish, a doctorate or equivalent in a relevant technical subject (e.g., mathematics, physics, engineering etc.). We will also consider degree-level candidates with relevant postgraduate experience.

Candidates with a good knowledge of plasma physics simulations, partial differential equations, or parallel computing are welcome to apply, and the post may be particularly suitable to researchers with appropriate experience in cognate fields such as Physics, Applied Mathematics, Mechanical, Chemical and Aerospace Engineering.
