Harness Designer - Lead Expert (Bentley)
Location: Crewe, Newcastle-under-Lyme & Home
Your Tasks/ Responsibilities:
Reporting to the EDS Team Leader Bentley, co-ordinating a cross functional team, you will be the Technical Project Lead responsible for the project engineering deliverables. This will include:
- Responsible for all the engineering design and validation aspects of the electrical distribution System and assist in the specification of harness fixing & protection components for a project from concept to start of production
- Interfacing with the customer to ensure project deliverables are met
- Operate a design to cost approach ,including proposals for improvements
- Transforming 3D virtual designs and models into fully-engineered harness product
- Capable of interpreting and instigation of the relevant quality standards of LEONI, Customer & Supplier
- Specification of components
- Operating in an APQP environment
- Producing design FMEA’s and maintaining them during product development
- Producing a 2D harness drawing using current 2D harness software
- Producing electrical/mechanical proposals for EDS Components
- Demonstrating product integrity through calculation or modelling
- Ensuring harnesses are suitable for manufacture and
installation - Take fully responsibility for the design / validation integrity to include 3D CAD routing – validation – any re work instructions for late changes and vehicle build support
Your Profile:
- Ideally educated to HNC/degree level, or equivalent, in an Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering discipline
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and circuits
- Have a sound understanding of the harness design and manufacturing processes
- Experience working in a Customer interface role
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (including presentation, technical communication and negotiation skills)
- Ability to comply with current relevant legal and internal defined standards, as well as safety and environmental regulations
- Ability to report risks, opportunities and to comply with deadlines
- Prepared to travel UK and overseas
- Competitive Salary dependent on experience
