If so, you might be the perfect fit for the Head Chef position at the Newcastle Football Club at St James Park, the home of the Magpies and one of the largest stadiums in the UK.

You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your culinary skills by creating menus and food service offers that reflect the latest trends and customer preferences, as well as the club’s identity and values.  

You will be the production Chef for both events and match days food selections, and be responsible for the delivery of an incomparable service to clients who expect only the best! With an emphasis on exceptional service and quality criteria.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensuring prompt and efficient production, preparation and service of meals to the Company and Client’s satisfaction, catering for a variety of events and occasions, such as match days, conferences, weddings and parties
• Lead the team to ensure the prompt and efficient preparation, production and service of all meals and breaks at the required time, being provided to the standard of the food service offer to our Customers and Sodexo’s satisfaction.
• Managing the cleanliness and hygiene and overseeing all health and safety of the operation to the required standard, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and policies, as well as the club’s sustainability and environmental goals
• Managing and controlling purchasing and labour costs to achieve annual budget, negotiating with suppliers and monitoring stock levels and wastage, as well as ensuring the quality and consistency of the ingredients and products used
• Control staff rota and division of staff based on the days menu production  to ensure efficient utilisation of staff
• Monitor waste, ensuring that it is kept to a minimum and action plans are put in place as necessary.
• Compliance to company and statutory regulations relating to “ SEMS “ safe systems of work, health & safety, hygiene, cleanliness, fire, COSHH and purchasing 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

You will be a food and hospitality specialist with a proven track record of delivering excellent food and customer service, in a large-scale or high-volume venues.

You will be an expert in keeping pace with food trends and have the ability to translate them into exciting and appealing menus and food offers. 

Above all you will have a background in managing teams and strong leadership skills with  the ability to influence your team by demonstrating your talent and knowledge.

You will also have:

• Previous experience of working as a Head Chef and a relevant qualification in culinary qualification or equivalent professional training 
• Excellent tasting skills
• A creative and innovative approach to food, with a flair for presentation and attention to detail, as well as a passion for football and the club’s history and culture
• A strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate, train and supervise a team of chefs and kitchen staff, as well as liaise with other departments and stakeholders within the club
• A flexible and adaptable attitude, with the willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays as required, as well as cope with the pressure and demands of a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Evidence of successfully managing costs in line with exceptional delivery

WHAT WE OFFER

You will be rewarded with a salary of between £39,000 and £41,000 plus access to a range of benefits, including a performance-related bonus, employer pension contribution and life assurance – 1 x annual salary.
