Job description
The role of the Support Worker is to provide care and support to adults with learning disabilities. Our aim is to enable people with learning disabilities to live full and purposeful lives in their community and develop a range of activities including leisure interests, friendships and relationships, spirituality and education.
What your role will include:
• Ensuring the house is safe and secure at all times.
• Supporting service users in areas such as food preparation, domestic tasks, cleaning and kitchen hygiene.
• Ensuring service users attend regular health checks.
• Talking and engaging with service users.
• Helping service users liaise with friends, relatives and professionals.
• Participating with service users in leisure activities.
• Supporting service users to take medication, including supervision administration and recording.
• Keeping up to date records and reports as directed.
• Supporting service users with budgeting and financial recording.
• Assist service users in personal care when required (which may include bathing, washing, pad changing, dressing and oral hygiene).
• Restrain service users using approved PMVA techniques (only when required).
• Help service users lead a lifestyle that is valued and respected.
