Job description

Walker Morris are seeking an experienced security engineer, with a blend of on-premise and Microsoft cloud security experience.

 

This is an exciting opportunity where you will play a key role in transforming the business from on premise to cloud software, implementing security and compliance changes within the business. You will work closely with senior stakeholders and act as a trusted adviser for cyber security matters. 

 

Walker Morris are ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials certified and you will support the firm in maintaining these standards. You will assist the IT Security Officer in maintaining IT security across the firm.

 

You will be supported to develop your career and build on your previous experiences to enhance both your technical and soft skills.

 

 

What you'll be doing as an IT Security Engineer:

• Protect perimeter system boundaries.
• Implement tools for automating security processes (e.g. PAM Management, Microsoft Azure Purview, Sentinel, SEIM solutions and Defender).
• Identify published zero-day vulnerabilities and ensure adequate remediation information is passed to relevant teams following internal policy guidelines.
• Keep firewalls and network devices hardened against attacks and securing highly sensitive data.
• Implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks, and information.
• Identify and define system security requirements for new projects.
• Design computer security architecture and maintain a detailed technical security design.
• Collaborate with internal IT teams to configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices.
• Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes, and propositions for further system security enhancement.

What we are looking for:

• Qualified candidates will have a background in Security or Systems Engineering
• Applying Microsoft Azure security and compliance tools and implementing security best practices.
• Advanced Firewall and networking skills
• Broad knowledge of Microsoft 365 services and specifically DLP controls.
• ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials +

Preferred but not essential: 

• Cisco CCNA or similar
• CompTIA Security+
• Azure Administrator Associate
• Azure Security Engineer Associate
• Identity and Access Administrator Associate
• Security Operations Analyst Associate
• Information Protection Administrator Associate
• Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate

Due to the nature of the role, there will be out of hours support required.

 

Our office is based in Leeds and this role is offered on either a hybrid (min. 2 days per week in the office) or fully office-based basis.
