Job Title: Chef
Location: Berkshire, RG1
Pay rate: £11.72 per hour
Days: 37.5 hours per week
Start date: Available immediately
Length of contract: Temporary ongoing
GI Group Recruitment are now recruiting for a Chef for our Public Sector client based in Berkshire. The Chef will work as part of the catering team in producing approximately 1600 meals and the serving of 700 customers in the restaurant per day. The successful candidate will supervise, prepare and cook meals to high standards whilst maintaining a clean, tidy and safe department, ensuring the standard of service to the is pleasant, efficient and all duties are carried out in line with the department's working procedures.
Main duties of the Chef
Develop and maintain good working relationships with service users, visitors, staff and Managers as well as external agencies providing services to our client.
Attend training courses and development sessions when required, communication and briefing meetings, communicating positively contributing to the teams and Departments objectives.
Preparing and cooking food as per recipe.
Cooking and preparing elements of high quality and diet specific dishes.
Keeping up with industry trends and help create new recipes.
Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment and ensuring sanitation practices in the kitchen.
Assisting other Chefs in the department.
Helping with deliveries and restocking of all equipment and ingredients.
Maintain clean and sanitary work stations.
Criteria
NVQ 2 in Cookery or City and Guilds equivalent.
Basic Food Hygiene.
Ability to cook with fresh ingredients from start to end product.
Relevant experience of working in the catering trade and/or experience of working in a similar type of establishment is desirable though not essential.
Minimum level 2 food safety.
Higher level food safety is desirable.
