WARDEN JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:- Town Council Allotment Warden

Job Purpose:- Warden to work for the Town Council at a number of venues across the parish of Loftus, specifically Loftus Westfield Allotments, Loftus Cowscote Allotments, Loftus Westfield Community Woodland and Loftus Town Hall.

Main responsibilities:-
Allotments Warden
Westfield Community Woodland Warden
Relief Caretaker, Loftus Town Hall
Other general tasks as identified by the Town Council, eg checking defibrillators.

Planning and Organising, decision making
Must be willing and able to work on own initiative, and at direction of the Council
Must be able to organise own time and prioritise tasks
Decisions will generally be made in conjunction with other staff, and in accordance with requests/requirement of Council
Must be willing and able to give verbal reports

Allotment tenants
Woodland Volunteers

Councillors

Hours of work, remuneration and holidays
Minimum 16 hours per week, some flexibility but with core contact hours to be arranged. Statutory holidays + 21 days, rising to 25 days after 5 years service
Pay at Real Living Wage, Currently £12 per hour. Local Government Pension Scheme will be offered.

Main Duties and responsibilities
Allotments
Essential work at the Allotments may vary due to season and weather conditions.
Main responsibilities
To be a regular, visible point of contact for tenants
Maintenance of footpaths, hedges, ditches and boundaries
Site security and supervision
Reporting to the Allotment Committee and Clerk
Attending Council site inspections.
Regeneration of site
Supporting Woodland Volunteers

Westfield Woodland
Essential work at the Woodland may vary due to season and weather conditions.
Main responsibilities
To be a regular, visible point of contact for volunteers (currently every other Wednesday from April - Oct)
Carryout duties identified in the management plan
Reporting

Town Hall
To open up for bookings at the Town Hall every other weekend.
To provide holiday/sickness cover for Town Hall Caretaker
To move tables, chairs and other furniture and equipment related to usage of the Town Hall by Council and for bookings when covering for the Caretaker

Plus any other duties commensurate with the role.
