Job Title: Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 per annum

Company Overview & Job Title: A top class engineering organisation based in Cambridgeshire who have an excellent presence in the Electronics & Manufacturing Industry for producing world class engineering products on a global scale along with high quality technology usage and development in numerous sectors that include food, beverage, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, automotive and many more are now seeking to hire for a brand new Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join the organisation on a permanent basis.

Salary & Flexible hybrid working arrangement: The salary on offer for Senior Embedded Software Engineer is £50,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on skillset and experience. Working 3 days in the office and 2 from home is available.

The role: The successful Senior Embedded Software Engineer will take responsibility to specify, design, and develop the embedded software for the organisation’s product range. The Senior Embedded Software Engineer will play a critical role in the SW team, occupied on the most challenging projects and solving the most complex issues.

Key Skills:

• 3-5+ years minimum industry experience
• Embedded Software Programming in C, C++
• Ideally Embedded C++
• Experience in Embedded C++ software design for an Embedded Linux operating system
• Build tools like U-Boot, Buildroot or Yocto
• Knowledge and understanding of Linux kernel device drivers
• Other programming languages – Python, Bash, C#
• Low Level Embedded protocols - I2C, SPI, UART, RS232, 485 CAN
• Experienced in Agile SW development
• Version Control – GIT, SVN, JIRA or similar

Desirable nice to have skills:

• RTOS – FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Embedded Linux or similar
• Other protocols & networking - TCP/IP, UDP, IoT, TLS, Security
• Object Oriented Design
• Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) Design Patterns
• DevOps Tools: GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, Terraform
• Test automation will be a strong plus
