This small but rapidly growing consultancy is looking for individuals with a range of levels of experience. They are owned by four highly experienced and recognised practitioners in UK Defence consultancy. They are looking for candidates with a mix of technical expertise and interpersonal skills, able to work independently or in small teams.
The Role:
As a Software Engineer, you will play a major role in developing code for Software Modelling and Simulation, along with providing key advice around innovation and new techniques to stakeholders. You will be designing solutions for complex challenges that will meet and exceed user requirements.
Responsibilities will include:
• Delivering technical consulting projects.
• Developing and delivering software modelling solutions using a large range of techniques, including robotics and autonomous systems and synthetic environments.
• Building new relationships and maintaining current customer relationships.
• Applying mathematical and computational methods to tackle real world problems, applying tools and techniques, and developing novel approaches where required.
Expertise Required:
They are looking for a range of experience:
• Software Engineer: 2+ years' experience, including delivering software applications.
• Senior Software Engineer: 5+ years' experience, including designing and delivering software applications.
• Principal Software Engineer: 10+ years' experience, with extensive experience of leading software projects, leading teams, delivering innovative approaches and / or winning work.
About You:
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
Essential
• Ability to understand and describe a range of software modelling techniques.
• Experience in programming applications to meet user requirements.
• Experience in designing software applications.
• Experience in managing data.
• Ability to analyse project data to determine specifications or requirements.
• Experience in one or more of the following technical disciplines:
• Unreal / Unity engine
• Proficient in C++ or Python.
• Proficient in a range of database protocols (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
• Apply mathematical principles or statistical approaches to solve problems in scientific or applied fields.
• Modify software programs to improve performance.
• Develop testing routines or procedures.
• Supporting and leading authoring of technical reports and presenting to customers.
• Experience working with UK Defence industry.
• Be willing to travel across UK and comfortable to work away from home for periods of time.
Desirable:
• The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience
• They would love you to have a strong STEM / computing background.
Other Requirements:
• Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
• Candidates will need to undergo an internal BPSS check prior to gaining site access.
• Candidates will also need to either hold a current SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check (SC level) upon starting their employment with the company. To gain SC clearance you will normally need at least 5 years' UK residency.
