The business was founded by David Jones in 1983. Throughout the 1980's we specialised in the writing of auction software for livestock auctioneers in the South West of England. During the 1980’s David was joined by his wife Jenny who looked after the companies finances until they both retired in 2015. David passed away In 2019. David's legacy continues through his family, friends, customers & business.
By the late 1990's Newline was the market leader for livestock auctions in Great Britain. Following several disease outbreaks that brought the auctioneering of livestock a halt our clients diversified their auctioneering business and we mirrored this diversification. Since then our software has run leading salerooms, plant & machinery sales, horticultural & commercial auctions. Our business also expanded to include I.T. maintenance packages for the rest of our client’s business’s. Today we support in excess of 3000 devices and hundreds of Windows servers in the UK & Ireland.
In 2020 Newline introduced Auctionmarts.com, an online trading platform for auctioneers, providing searchable catalogues, live sale internet bidding and timed auctions.
In 2021 Newline ASP was acquired by Jonas Software. Jonas Software operates a buy and hold forever strategy and operates over 110 independently managed software brands around the world, providing them with the strategic guidance and financial security required to be leaders in their respective markets. With the acquisition of the partnership Jenny & Becks Jones retired from the business.
