Job description

Oscar Club Pre-school requires a one to one support worker to work with a child for 10 hours per week within the pre-school setting plus office time. Please note that this is a temporary vacancy with the possibility of becoming permanent.

We require someone with a friendly and flexible attitude to help the child access the activities safely to support their development. You will be required to work with the parents and other professionals involved and follow their advice. You will have support from our SENCO in all aspects of the role. A knowledge of the EYFS and/or experience of working with children with additional needs would be a benefit. We can provide additional training if required to help with this role. Safeguarding training will be required.

Oscar Club Pre-school is a small, friendly pre-school situated in the grounds of Clipstone Brook Lower school in Leighton Buzzard. We are looking for a highly experienced Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years Practitioner.

This Pre-school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

Main Responsibilities:

• To deliver a high standard of learning, development and care for children aged 2-4 years old.
• To ensure that the pre-school is a safe environment for children, staff and visitors.
• To develop partnerships with parents and carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.
• To be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Manager.

Main activities:

• To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
• To deliver an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress.
• To help ensure the pre-school meets Ofsted requirements at all times.
• To undertake designated officer roles as directed.
• To work with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families.
• To understand and work to pre-school policies and procedures, including how to deal with safeguarding issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies.
• To plan activities which ensure each child is working towards the early learning outcomes.
• To be a key person.
• To ensure records are properly maintained eg. daily attendance register, accident and incident book and risk assessments.
• To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the pre-school and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement.
• To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the pre-school aims and objectives.
• To attend meetings with outside agencies and other professionals.
• To keep detailed up-to-date observations on any key children.
• To complete necessary SEND paperwork eg. SEND, EHCP.
