It's an exciting time to join Harlow’s Museum Service. Harlow Council has bold plans for its museum and walled gardens with the museum having recently gain accreditation status from Arts Council England, a £3.5m potential development having just been submitted for planning approval, and significant capital investment to be made for next year. The commitment to service’s development is clear.
Our visitors range from local school children and residents to tourists and specialists interested in our collections. The service has an experienced and talented team to continue the journey that has been developed over the last few years, with staff that bring enthusiasm, new ideas and work alongside and support our fantastic team of volunteers. We want to ensure that residents and visitors can enjoy all that is on offer, from the gardens and Roman artefacts to the Collins Cycle Collection and New Town Story. The Council is seeking an experienced Museum Manager to support the development of the service, building on the plans we have in place and ensuring that the service fulfils its potential whilst developing a long-term vision and strategy. You will take responsibility for ensuring the museum’s collection is managed and cared for to professional standards and the service continues to remain accessible, relevant, and exciting. With experience of managing a front-line service within a cultural or heritage environment, of curating collections, and project management, you will also be confident in leading and developing staff and volunteers to fulfil their potential.
