Job description
We are advertising for three Senior Occupational Therapists to work in Mental Health, Personality Disorder and Learning Disability Services within Rampton High Secure Forensic Hospital.
The role involves the development of effective programmes of specialist Occupational Therapy for forensic patients with complex mental health, learning disability and personality disorder needs.
To carry out specialist assessment, goal setting, implementation of treatment programs and evaluation.
Opportunity for further development and funding for sensory integration training/work.
To represent and promote the specialist role of Forensic Occupational Therapy within Rampton High Secure Hospital including involvement with service planning and development. The role involves deputising for senior staff as required, and supporting Band 5 OT preceptees, OT Apprentice’s and OT students on placement.
This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.
Develop and provide a patient needs led specialist occupational therapy programme using a range of assessments, treatment approaches and evaluation based on best available evidence, to a specific patient group.
Be actively involved in the clinical risk assessment and development of risk management plans for patients and adhere to these.
Effectively manage a nominated caseload.
Liaise effectively and be an active member of the relevant multidisciplinary teams, providing clinical reports as necessary and actively contribute to the Care Programme Approach process.
Provide effective clinical leadership with the Occupational Therapy service.

Working Practice:
• Develop and provide a patient needs led specialist occupational therapy programme using a range of assessments, treatment approaches and evaluation based on best available evidence, to a specific patient group.

• Adhere to local Forensic OT Quality Standards (2008) and RCOT Professional Standards for Occupational Therapy
• Successfully time manage and prioritise areas of responsibility.
• Provide professional guidance to members of the team.
• Liaise effectively and be an active member of the relevant multidisciplinary teams, providing clinical reports as necessary and actively contribute to the Care Programme Approach process.
• Attend and contribute to relevant meetings as required.
• Communicate effectively within own service and with other colleagues.
• Be actively involved in Clinical Governance and quality assurance activities as required.
• Provide effective clinical leadership with the Occupational Therapy service.
• Co-work with Occupational Therapy staff and members of other professions.
• Accurately record statistical information.
• Keep accurate, appropriate, and contemporaneous patient records in accordance with the Forensic Information Governance Group and Trust Policy.
• Undertake administrative tasks as required by the service and the Directorate.
• Lead in assigned specific clinical activities as determined by the line manager.
• Lead on specific service developments as required.
• Supporting sensory needs of high secure patients.
