About the Job
As a Health and Safety Manager you will champion and promote health and safety awareness across the site. You will co-ordinate and monitor safety related processes including risk assessment, training, accident investigation, workplace safety audits and that inspections are being satisfactorily completed. You will support audits and share best practice across the sites regarding all Health and Safety matters, and you will also work closely with facilities to ensure Contractors work safely on site.
As part of your key responsibilities you’ll:
- Advise management on Health and Safety legislation, safe methods of working, prevention of hazards to health and the suitability of plant, protective equipment and control measures
- Understand and promote the use of Unipart Group Health and Safety Policies and Procedures
- Maintain the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) plan and support delivery of all associated actions
- Arrange Health and Safety courses, inductions and meetings, producing materials and agendas as required
- Facilitate the reporting and investigation of all H&S incidents, ensuring that root cause is identified and recommendations made are delivered to prevent recurrence and improve controls
- Coach and mentor managers to improve their investigation skills and ensure that lessons learned are shared across sections/departments
- Provide statistical summaries of incidents to Management and draw attention to significant trends and occurrences
- Facilitate the completion of risk assessments, SOP’s and audits
About You We’d love you to have the following skills and experience, but please apply if you think you’d be able to perform well in this role!
- Demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety legislation with experience in a similar role
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is essential, IOSH membership (TechIOSH) or equivalent is desirable
- Experience of SSOW/SOP writing
- Experience of Accident/Incident Investigation
- Experience in successfully dealing with external regulatory bodies
- 3PL experience is advantageous
- Automotive experience desirable
- Flexible and committed to achieving team/site objectives
- Ability to build credible relationships with internal and external stakeholders – a skilled communicator
- Ability to exercise sound and logical judgement
- Effective time management skills with the ability to work to targets and timescales
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- A commitment to self-development and team development
- Good data analysis skills and computer literate
