A genuinley exciting opportunity has arisen for a Buyer with experience purchasing raw materials and an analytical approach to join a well-established and highly successful steelwork engineering company based nr Sandwell. Direct Buyer Duties include:
• Maintaining and building upon the relationships with the company’s current supplier network.
• Working with the business Directors to understand workload and sales forecasts to ensure purchasing strategy meets the requirements of the business.
• Sourcing prices and purchasing a range of products ranging from raw materials (metals) through to consumables such as nuts and bolts.
• Ensure that delivery dates are in line with requirements for the various divisions within the business.
• Logging all communications, enquiries, orders etc on the ERP system.
• Visiting suppliers and the company’s European office (up to approx. 10 trips to Germany/Holland per year).
• Working individually, as well as part of a team and with the Procurement Director too.

Direct Buyer requirements:
• A minimum of 4 years’ experience working as a Buyer for a manufacturing business.
• Experience working with raw materials such as steel/metal is advantageous BUT NOT essential.
• Be financially/commercially astute.
• Be organised, have good communication & negotiation skills & ability to build and maintain relationships.
• Happy to take short visits to European offices and suppliers (up to approx. 10 visits per year).
• Must be eligible to work in the UK on a permanent basis and be seeking a permanent PAYE role.
