Job description
We currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to join our growing team based in Loughton, Essex.
The purpose of the role:
To deliver excellent, customer-focussed grounds maintenance services to our customers.
To provide an efficient and flexible grounds maintenance support services to the public, businesses, elected member and colleagues.
To provide technical and specialist knowledge including work planning, monitoring, enquiry response, contract management and landscape development to the Grounds Maintenance Team. Manager.
Take collective and individual responsibility for ensuring excellent services are provided to our customers.
Remuneration :
The salary: The ideal candidate will join us on a full-time basis in return for a salary between £37,000 to £40,000 per annum. Exact salary will reflect your experience and skill set.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- To manage and motivate the team to deliver excellent customer focused services, resulting in high levels of customer satisfaction. To include responsibility for recruitment, training and performance management in accordance with our policies.
- To collect and monitor individual and team performance information to ensure targets are met.
- To be responsible for works carried out by the Grounds Maintenance Services Team within the district and ensure that all contractual obligations of the service are met.
- Work with the Grounds Maintenance Staff to enhance the service. Ensure that the work of the service is high quality and ensure that relevant health and safety guidelines and safe working methods are observed at all times.
- To ensure that operational ICT systems are updated in a timely manner across all staff, with all works recorded, completed/ closed and costed to enable accurate financial and performance reports.
- Assist with wider operational service issues including, contracts and renewal of horticultural plant and equipment.
- That the client’s key performance metrics are met, and activities are completed on time, to the correct quality and budget.
- To deputise for the other Grounds Maintenance Supervisor in their absence.
- To support the Operations Manager in implementing a strong vision for the service area which delivers ambitious, innovative and forward-thinking approaches. Develop and implement a digital focus across processes and service delivery.
- Duties and responsibilities should be regarded as neither exclusive nor exhausted as the post holder may be required to undertake other reasonably determined duties and responsibilities, commensurate with the grading of the post, without changing the general character of the post.

Qualification and Experience:
- Relevant professional degree/qualification, or demonstrable equivalent work experience.
- A full clean current driving licence and own vehicle is required for site visits.
- Relevant Horticultural and management training
- Demonstrate a good understanding of relevant Health & Safety legislation including knowledge of COSHH & Risk Assessments.
- A satisfactory DBS check is required as part of this role.
- Good familiarity of Microsoft Office
- Proven operational/ contract management of grounds maintenance in a variety of settings.
- Managing health and safety and welfare of operatives and sub-contractors.
- Experience of planning, commissioning, delivering and monitoring grounds maintenance services.
- Preparing specifications and managing contractors and controlling costs.
- Using data to improve services and productivity.
- Management and operation of relevant plant, vehicles and machinery.
