Job description
HMP Addiewell opened in 2008 and is run by Sodexo under contract to the Scottish Prison Service with an emphasis on being a “learning” prison. Here residents can address their offending behaviour and the circumstances which led to their imprisonment through Purposeful Activity.
To ensure that the establishment is well maintained and runs effectively we are seeking a dynamic Hard Services Manager with a comprehensive knowledge of the facilities management to assist The Deputy Head of Facilities Management to set the direction, shape the strategy, mission, vision and aims for Facilities and HMP Addiewell.
The ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritise effortlessly will be pivotal to the success of this role.
A key focus of the role will be managing and supporting a team of engineers (of all disciplines) on a day-to-day basis as well as being responsible for the management of the Facilities Maintenance team and Lifecycle projects.
As a Hard Services Manager you will assist in the reporting and delivery of all major Capital Expenditure and Business-led projects, whilst working closely with the soft services manager.

Main Responsibilities - As an experienced facilities professional you will work with and manage multi-disciplinary teams to ensure we have a compliant and whilst providing a quality service to all within HMP Addiewell.
- To undertake the roles of a statue of AP/RP where required - including Knowledge & awareness of Legionnaire RP (training will be given).
- To proactively manage a pre-planned schedule of maintenance for current inventory and estates assets.
- To effectively manage contracts including for outsourced services ensuring optimum performance and Value for Money.
- To take a proactive approach to mitigating risk, coordinating the risk management procedures across the prison, maintaining all required documentation, and ensuring compliance with all policies, legal and statutory requirements.
- To deliver a high quality professional Facility Management service in line with the PFI contract requirements that supports the needs of the Director of the HMP Addiewell in ensuring that the Prison remains secure, effective and fit for purpose on a day to day basis and that contractual compliance is achieved.
- The post holder will take lead responsibility reporting to the Technical Services Manager at HMP Addiewell for the Project Management, reporting and delivery of all major Life Cycle, Capital Expenditure and Business led projects and Statutory Compliance (circa £2.5 million per annum).
- To ensure all agreed Statutory compliance, Pre Planned Maintenance, Life Cycle, Capital Expenditure and FM led Business projects are delivered on time, budget and to the agreed quality standard in accordance with Sodexo Justice Services and contractual requirements.
- To contribute to functional training programmes and ensuring that all departmental staff have access to, and receive, appropriate training.
The Ideal Candidate Essential:
- Demonstrable experience of delivery in a similar role with experience of Multi Skilled Teams.
- A progressive, dynamic, and flexible approach to delivery of Facility and Asset Management Services.
- A proven track record of Customer Relationship, Quality, Project and Financial Management.
- An experienced FM professional with a good understanding of Statutory compliance.
- Excellent Interpersonal and Drafting skills.
- A sound knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Project.
Desirable:
- FM Qualifications – degree in a relevant subject such as facilities or estates management, property management or similar.
- BIFM requirement Level 4 or 5 or similar.
- Trained in Health and Safety to IOSH Level 2 standard (managing safety).
- Experience of working in a secure environment.
What we are offering:
- Salary £45,000 - £50,000 per annum - depending on experience and qualifications.
- 37.5 hours week – 7.30am to 4.00pm (with 1hr lunch).
