Job Description:
Responsibilities
Responsible for managing maintaining monitoring and patching Linux (RedHat/CentOS) and Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems on physical and virtualized operating environments.
Responsible for managing configuring and troubleshooting Cisco 9000 series switches and Next Generation Firewalls.
Install configure evaluate and maintain operating systems (Linux/MS Server) application software and system management tools.
Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics documenting problems and the resolutions prioritizing problems and assessing impact of the issues.
Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
As directed assist with the customers accreditation process to achieve an Authority to Operate including utilizing DISA STIG standards Conducting System Security Scans addressing noncompliance issues and hardening systems using best practices.
Work closely with system users and IT colleagues to ensure that server systems perform as required and meet system user functional needs.
Participated in the design of information and operational support systems.
Provide Tier 3 level support.
Optimize all stages of the system lifecycle from initial planning to testing through the final verification and beyond.
Requirements and skills
Proven working experience in installing configuring and troubleshooting Linux & Microsoft based environments.
Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g. VMware Virtual Box)
Proven working experience with Cisco switches and next Generation Firewalls
Proven experience working through a systems security accreditation process.
Defines and discerns key aspects of a problem and develops an integrated solution within a broad technical and business context.
Must be able to describe technical issues to nontechnical groups.
Strong understanding of and experience with system virtualization and virtual machine orchestration.
Excellent communication skills verbal and written.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with the team.
Bachelors Degree.
8 years related experience with Bachelors Degree or 12 years without degree
