Job description

What you will do in your working day

This list is not considered to be exhaustive, but to provide an illustrative representation of the nature of the duties that the Apprentice will be involved in and the experience / development that will be gained.

Transactional Processing:

• Processing of supplier invoices on a timely basis to ensure payments are made on time and to terms
• Completion of key supplier statement reconciliations on a timely basis
• Support in creating the weekly supplier payment run
• Manage supplier queries which are received into the department
• Produce weekly reports on the performance of the Accounts Payable function
• Raise ad hoc customer invoices and credit notes
• Process cash receipts from the remittances received to clear down outstanding balances owed
• Attend debtor review meetings to help determine actions required to clear aged balances

Financial Reporting:

• Production of balance sheet reconciliations, including the bank
• Support in delivery of month-end processing to ensure US reporting is delivered on time
• Monthly review of travel and entertainment submitted expenses prior to US submission
• Processing of journals required
• Contribution to monthly balance sheet review undertaken
• Assist in the production of the weekly cashflow forecasting

Commercial Accounting:

• Volume / Sales / Price reporting
• Support in the production of ad hoc commercial reporting
• Attend business review meetings to help build business acumen and an understanding on the risks / opportunities

The training you will be getting

An Accounts or finance assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within a business.

The Accounts or finance assistant is responsible for assisting the team of accountants with junior accounting duties. It takes approximately 12 months to complete the apprenticeship and you will receive a blended method of learning including online learning and attending live online workshops, working towards achieving nationally recognised qualifications in:

• Level 2 Accounts / Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard
