Hours: 37 Hours

CONTRACT:   TEMPORARY - UNTIL THE END OF MARCH 2025  

We are keen to welcome an enthusiastic and motivated Community Support Worker into the Special Guardianship part of the Family Placement Team, with a view to offering support to Special Guardians to maintain stable placements for the children and young people in their care. This post involves working closely with experienced members of staff, including Social Workers and other professionals and benefits from an experienced management team.

The post is based at the Civic Centre, Pontypool and also involves spending time working from home, offering support virtually and through telephone calls, as well as home visits to Special Guardians.

Qualifications / Experience:

Essential

• Knowledge and understanding of the physical, social, emotional, psychological, educational development of children and young people and their families.
• Understanding of and respect for the principles of confidentiality and the importance of managing personal and sensitive information in a professional manner.
• Understanding of the concept of risk and an awareness of the safeguarding/protection of vulnerable adults/children and young people.
• Relevant experience in a paid or voluntary capacity with Children/ Young People or Adults.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with children, young people and their families/Service Users and Carers.
• To display commitment and enthusiasm in relation to achieving a quality service, with positive outcomes for service users.

Desirable

• NVQ level 3 in an appropriate subject.
• Up to date knowledge of current legislation in relation to children and young people.
• Experience of supporting people to make positive changes in their lives.
