Estates and Lettings Technician - Full time (afternoons and evenings) - 37 hours per week, all year round Core Hours: Sunday to Thursday, 1.30pm to 9pm (includes weekends)
Barnwood Park School is seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic Estates and Lettings Technician to join our team
Job Purpose:
To maintain school estate to the highest level, ensure agreed levels of service and comfort, to support the provision of education and other appropriate activity for all users of the school.
To maintain an efficient and effective Housekeeping cleaning service in support of the school, staff and students.
Relationships: The postholder
Is responsible to the Headteacher via the Business Manager in all mattersTo be line managed by the IT & Estates ManagerWill maintain good working contacts with all levels of teaching and support staff Main Duties and Responsibilities
Estates and Lettings Technician
To liaise with the school regarding maintenance work & lettings, site up-keep and other duties as directed by the SchoolAreas of work include:
Emptying of litter bins and removal of litter on site
Replacing consumable items
Removal of graffiti from internal and external surfaces
Movement of furniture/equipment/parcels as required within the premises
Attending to routine maintenance tasks and minor repairs as directed
Emergency cleaning as required
School lockup to ensure security of the site
To act as a key holder of the premises to attend in cases of emergency or as directedPainting and decorating where requiredSetup of equipment for lettings eventsAssisting with school events (parents evenings, musicals etc.)
To work with the School to ensure security of the siteIn liaison with the IT & Estates Manager, ensure that site safety is in accordance with GCC Health and Safety guidelines and current legislation ensuring that any concerns are raised with IT & Estates ManagerTo work as part of the Estates team and adopt flexible working practicesTo take part in training and staff development activitiesSite lockup and key holding services Housekeeping
To manage and ensure supplies and stocks are adequateDaily, weekly and monthly site safety checksSafeguarding

Qualification and Experience
The postholder should ideally have:
Excellent numeracy/literacy skills – equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in English and Maths
Educated to at least GCSE (5 A* - C), or equivalent standard.
Practical skills to undertake maintenance and repairs around the school.
Experience of using workshop materials, tools, machines and equipment, incorporating health and safety safe working practices. Essential training (e.g. PAT testing, manual handling etc.) can be provided.
Be computer literate.
Have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with end users of varying ages and knowledge and confidence.
Possess tact, discretion and the ability to work, when necessary under pressure and on own initiative.
Ability to relate well to students and adults.
Work constructively and flexibly as part of a team.
