Job description
As a Ranger, you’re the heart and soul of the National Trust in the landscapes we protect. You’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, and you’ll play a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape, for wildlife and for people.
Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week, will include some weekends, bank holidays and evenings Salary: £22,152pa. We are currently undertaking our pay review process and it is likely that this salary will be increased from 1st April 2024. Contract: Permanent Interviews: 15th March TBC If you have any questions about this role please contact: [email protected] Lyme is beautiful historic property with a wide variety of habitats and the ranger team at Lyme have the pleasure of looking after it. The work is fast paced and requires you to think quickly. The ranger role at Lyme is very practical from covering all estate maintenance tasks to visitor engagement activities. We actively manage our woodlands and look after our grasslands through a carefully thought-out grazing regime. We look after approx. 1400 acres of habitat consisting of historic parkland, woodlands, ponds, meadows and moorland. We have very high visitor numbers which requires thought and management within the ranger role. The team are very passionate about nature conservation and work hard to make sustainable decisions to improve the land within and outside Lyme. The team is compact with a team 5 but we work in harmony with the rest of the property including house, garden and with volunteers. You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task. You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing. We’d love to hear from you if you’re: practically experienced in conservation work, to protect and improve habitats and landscapesJob tags
