Job description
I am a stay at home Mum so the help we require is a mix of help around the house and childcare. We live in Billericay & have a 15 year old an 13 year old twins. Our youngest twin has a Rare Chromosome Disorder which means she has developmental delay & some medical needs, her needs are more matched with that of a young toddler, she loves playtime, singing, music & has so much to give back, she is a very happy little girl.
Experience with children that have additional needs is helpful but not essential.
We're looking for a happy, energetic, patience & caring person, who love's to spend time with children but can appreciate that I want spend time with my children too so need help with others things around the house to free up my time. Our lives can turn in a moment should our youngest get ill so we need someone who is reliable. A lot goes in to getting to know our youngest & understanding her needs so this position is long term not short term.
Ideally we are looking for someone Monday - Thursday and every Saturday. Start times can vary but Tuesday's finish time is 8pm due to clubs and either Wed or Thursday 9pm so we can take our other 2 children out. (which day off in the week is taken due to working Saturday on occasions can be changed, it doesn't always have to be a Friday but we'd need to talk about this further as on some days with clubs I would always need help) During school holidays the hours would be longer so we can do days out etc.
Going forward we would like this person to be able to babysit some weekend nights in the month so we can go out (not an overwhelming amount but at least twice would be nice) & occasionally over night or a weekend if we get the chance to go away.
We would also like someone to be able to come on holiday with us for our summer holidays. (2 weeks) & possibly other holidays if we go away in half term etc.
Annual leave would be 25 days. This can not be taken during school holidays as this is when I obviously need the most help, we're more flexible over the Christmas school holidays.
You must be comfortable with Dogs as we have an Irish Red Setter.
For our youngest child the role is a little more complex, although she is 13 she is more the size of a 6-7 year old, she is non verbal and non mobile so you will be required to:
Get her bathed and ready for bed.
Feeding.
Play time.
Cooking of meals. (Cooking/blending)
Our daughter is still in nappies so will still need changing like a baby/toddler would.
Carry out preparation & administer of medicines.
Physiotherapy.
Therapy playtime. -I will provide training on everything.
Take her out to trampolining, physio sessions, Little Havens for playtime and so on.
You will need to be able to drive we will supply a vehicle for you to help with the school runs, to take the children out, for our youngest you'll need to feel comfortable lifting her in and out of the car or bath. (She weighs 25kg and wears 6/7 year old clothes.)
Our daughter is a happy and calm little girl on occasions she can get overly upset but not for long, she requires love and patience during this time. We're looking for someone to embrace her & help to give her the time & care she needs from us all.
For our other 2 children the role is more basic & is just about caring for them generally like you would any other 13 and 15 year old.
For the hours worked where the children are all at school then the role covers the following:
Help with washing laundry.
Ironing.
Meal preparation for all the family.
General clearing away/tidying of the kitchen. I don't expect someone to clean the entire house.
Shopping when required.
Changing of beds weekly.
In a nutshell we're looking for someone who is happy to help all round.
If you think this role would suit you or you have any questions then I look forward to hearing from you,
Claire.
