We’re supporting our client, a leading Injection Moulding manufacturer based in Portsmouth, who are looking for a Tool Design Engineer to join their growing team. The successful Tool Design Engineer will have experience of Product Design, Product modelling and Injection Moulding Tool Design.

Position Overview: As a Tool Design Engineer, you’ll be a vital part of our Project Tooling and NPI team. Your primary focus will be Injection Mould Tool Design, in house and 3D printing.

Responsibilities for Tool Design Engineer:

• Product Design & Product Modelling
• Injection Mould Tool Design and 3D printing
• Maintaining high health and safety standards at all times
• To design injection mould tool design for internal manufacture
• Advise customers on designing components suitable for the plastic injection moulding process and ensure suitability for tooling manufacture
• you will be required to work under your own initiative and work independently as well as part of a team to ensure that tooling standards are maintained and best quality products can be produced
• To support sales with design/tooling queries and to provide technical support at customer meetings
• To assist in obtaining and reviewing new tool quotations
• To support N.P.I. with design and technical advice on tooling issues or customer queries
• To support TPM Team with tooling information
• To liaise engineering to ensure tooling is suitable
• Maintaining company objectives on quality, delivery and environmental policies

About You:

• Able to work in a team environment and also on your own initiative.
• Communicate effectively using a variety of different methods at all levels of the business with a positive attitude and drive to get things completed
• Tool design experience within the plastic injection mould
• Press mould experience is desirable
• Experience in reading 2D & 3D mould designs using CAD systems
• Experience with Solidworks
• Design experience of complex moulding tools i.e. hot runners, insert tooling etc.
