Permanent Mixed Veterinary Surgeon, Penrith Cumbria
Role : Permanent Veterinary Surgeon
Type: Mixed 75% farm and 25% small animal with no equine
Location: Penrith, Cumbria
Practice: They are working with a lovely mixed independent veterinary practice. Located only six miles from the beautiful Lake Ullswater in the market town of Penrith, this post offers excellent career prospects as part of a small friendly team
Team: You will be part of a six-vet team (5 LA vets, 1 SA vet) and will be supported by a clinical director, a practice manager, two nurses, and a dedicated reception team.
Services: Their focus is on preventive health in both herd/flock health and domestic pets. Their farm clientele is generally progressive and is all within a compact catchment area. Regular routine dairy visits are carried out and encouraged. They have all mod cons including ultrasound, digital x-ray, and bull breeding soundness equipment.
Job Description: The role is a mix of approximately 90% farm animals (no equine) and 10% small animals (mainly on-call and on weekends). True clinical freedom and encouragement to follow your chosen clinical interests
Hours: Full-time, 4-day working week, including one long weekend off in five (Fri-Mon inclusive)
OOHS/Weekends: 2-in-5 out-of-hours rota (the weekend on-call duties are shared between the two vets on call). There are always two Vets on-call
Sole Charge: Some
Skills/Exp : The role would suit an experienced vet with a minimum of 2 years of experience in mixed practice. An interest and enthusiasm in general practice are essential as there is potential for involvement with anything from herd health and preventive medicine to internal medicine and surgery. The desire to pursue professional development and postgraduate qualifications is fully supported and funded.
Salary/Pay Rate: Salary based on experience.
