Job description
30 hours per week • Term time only plus 5 INSET days
We are looking to recruit a motivated resilient individual who would like to join our team as a Learning & Interventions Mentor.
The successful applicant will be passionate about transforming the lives of young people and bring with them an abundance of enthusiasm which can encourage engagement and commitment from our students. Whilst experience is not necessary, you must have a good standard of literacy, be adaptable and willing to be involved in all aspects of school life, have a calm manner and be able to work as part of a team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for both graduates who want to move onto a career in teaching or other candidates wanting to pursue a career in education or supporting children, young people and their families. You will benefit from in-depth support and training from the school, gain hands on experience, develop your knowledge of the national curriculum and work with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs.
We are committed to developing and supporting new staff in line with career aspirations through the apprenticeship levy and Maiden Erlegh Institute, some of these potential pathways are listed below.
HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant): Take on a more advanced role, supporting teachers and leading classroom activities.
Teaching: Develop your skills as an educator and inspire the next generation.
OT (Occupational Therapist): Enhance students' independence and participation in daily activities.
SALT (Speech and Language Therapist): Make a difference by helping students with communication difficulties.
Therapy Specialist: Specialise in therapeutic interventions to support the emotional well-being of our students such as in Art, Play and Music Therapy.
Youth Worker: Engage with students on a personal level, fostering positive relationships and providing additional support.
Careers Advisor: Guide students in exploring career paths and assist in developing their post-education plans.
These are potential pathways that you can work towards but are not guaranteed, most have a clear entry criteria with required evidence, but we will endeavour as far as possible to develop and progress you in your specialist area/(s) if any.
