The successful applicant will be working across South Wales on a range of exciting projects including outdoor play, community environmental action and volunteering and our Healthy Rivers programme.

JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Trainee Assistant Project Officer
LOCATION: Pontllanfraith, Blackwood, with travel across the region and visits to residents homes
WAGE/SALARY £22,010 per annum
RESPONSIBLE TO: Co-ordinator
CONTRACT TENURE: Fixed term to 30th September 2024 (subject to extention with funding)
JOB OBJECTIVES
To support the development and delivery of programmes as part of a wide portfolio of activity delivered by Groundwork Wales.
MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
1. Deliver a range of community based programmes supporting the portfolio of work delivered by Groundwork Wales. These may include: wellbeing, household support, social enterprise, delivery of practical environmental, conservation and heritage skills, networking with local groups and visitors.
2. Record and collate information demonstrating progress towards targets, utilising Groundworks monitoring process; Contribute to the recording and collation of information demonstrating progress towards targets
3. Maintain effective relationships with partner organisations to ensure effective delivery of the service; Secure inward referral routes for clients and community groups, and onward referral routes for clients and community groups
4. Assist with the preparation of progress reports for funding bodies and other external organisations;
5. Identify and recruit groups, individuals and partners to participate in programme activity
6. Develop a network of organisations and groups supportive of the programme to ensure effective delivery of programme. Engage with partners, including public, private and third sector, to source project and funding opportunities
7. Supervise participants to develop environmental conservation and interpersonal skills through delivery of community based
8. Develop a personal development plan for each participant and group to include individual mentoring and assessment, accredited training and environmental or other project work
9. Utilise assessment tools, including Outcome Stars, the Warwick Edinburgh Wellbeing Scale and the Sustainable Livelihoods tools to support individuals and groups through their learning and achievement journeys
10. Deliver accredited courses to clients through a variety of appropriate accreditation routes
11. Supervise community members – volunteers, trainees and clients to develop environmental skills, essential skills and employability skills and on volunteering and enterprise projects, in accordance with Groundwork Wales’ procedures
12. Develop participants’ employability skills through support with CV writing, job search, interview skills
13. Provide 1:1 mentoring sessions to participants.
14. Assist with the identification of and application for additional funding for revenue and capital costs of programme delivery, including opportunities for fee earning and income generation.
15. Ensure that work is carried out in line with Groundwork policies and procedures;
16. Contribute to project planning, including setting targets, budgets and timescales through manual and IT records;
17. Develop links with existing Groundwork programmes to maximise the benefits for clients;
18. Visit people in their own homes to offer advice and provide items to support energy, water and other efficiency and to provide support to householders.
19. To represent Groundwork positively with outside agencies, at a project, programme and strategic level
20. To understand, support and carry out the requirements of the Groundwork Wales Internal Business Processes;
21. To cultivate familiarity with current related legislation and best practice in community work;
22. The post holder must have a full current driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
23. To undertake any other duties, which may reasonably be regarded as within the scope of responsibility of the post as defined by the Line Manager
24. To be responsible for managing and reporting concerns, and for putting into place procedures to safeguard children and vulnerable adults in the organisation.
25. To be responsible for the safety of personal information within your role, in accordance with GDPR regulations; to comply with the data protection principles and to ensure that personal data is not disclosed outside the organisation's procedures.
26. To be responsible for the Health and Safety of all clients, beneficiaries, volunteers and staff while working on Groundwork projects and sites
The person appointed will be supported in all aspects of work through a programme of peer support, mentoring and training.
