Job description


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experience and motivated leader to join the Division of Medicine at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust in the role of Matron for Acute Services. The successful applicant will be an experienced registered nurse with a positive leadership style. We are seeking a confident and motivated senior nurse with up to date nursing knowledge and experience to lead. You must have sound clinical skills, good IT skills, excellent communication skills, be flexible, a team player, and able to use your initiative to lead a team and deliver high quality patient care across the division.

You will be supported by a senior clinical and management team to deliver high quality patient safety and patient experience. One of the other key elements of the role is to provide positive leadership to the clinical team and act as a role model for staff and develop the team.

The post holder will be a member of the Divisional Management Team, working effectively with fellow Matrons, General Managers and Clinical Directors to deliver quality services for patients, efficiently. There is a specific focus on visible, accessible, and strong clinical leadership; service quality and development; and the patient’s experience of safe, timely and effective care.

*To facilitate and lead in a positive, flexible and strategic manner.
*Set and monitor clinical and non-clinical standards as and when required, take action to ensure high quality patient focus service in line with operational plan.
*Working in partnership with Ward Sisters/Charge Nurses, ensure the delivery of quality care.
*To present a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic role model providing leadership, guidance and advice on both operational and professional issues.
