About the job
AWE is currently recruiting for a Climatic Trials Engineer to join an on-site trials team who are tasked with the operation and maintenance of our climatic explosives trials test facilities.
Are you an engineer or scientist with a keen interest in overseeing long term trails? Are you willing to work alongside our experienced engineers and scientists to deliver current and future explosive capabilities? We would like someone who has experience working with C&I systems or specialist facility design but are interested in hearing from anyone who may have a suitable engineering or science background.
Location: Reading (site based)
Package: £35,720-£50,000 per annum (depending on suitability to the role)

The Role?
Key responsibilities and accountability's of a Climatic Trials Engineer:
- To aid with the planning and operation of explosive climatic test facilities to perform long term storage and instrumented trials.
- Preparation of test facility and test data reports on climatic trials storage phases as and when required.
- Maintain trial records and monitor ongoing trial environments to ensure compliance with trial specifications.
- Maintain and develop test facility / instrumentation calibration procedures and schedules.
- Design, develop and maintain control systems for climatic test facilities.
- Performance of minor, routine, and specialised maintenance tasks on climatic test facilities and associated equipment.
- Development towards Climatic SME status through knowledge capture and creation of training aids.
- Must be willing to learn and work to high safety and security standards in accordance with licence conditions and explosive requirements.
It would be desirable for you to have the following (not essential):
- Experience working with and around explosives.
- Experience with climatic environments (Temperature, humidity, ect.)
- Experience maintaining complex control systems.
- Experience in communicating independently with internal and external stakeholders.
You will need the following, to be considered:
- ONC / NVQ level 3 in a STEM vocational qualification supported by considerable practical experience.
- Proven experience of working in a multidisciplined team to deliver operational targets.
- Willingness to work around explosive and radiological hazardous environments.
