Job Title: Cleaning Team Leader

Post available: 13.45hrs a week Mon to Fri (5.15 am – 8am)

To be worked during the 35 week Eltham College Term Time plus 7 weeks during the Eltham College holiday (some flexibility around this and can be negotiated)

Occasional weekend working will be required to support school events

Reports to: Cleaning Manager

Salary : Full time Equivalent salary: £25,488 which equates to £8,645 (13.07 per hour) plus holiday pay, pension and other benefits (see below).

The Headmaster of Eltham College seeks to appoint a Cleaning Team Lead to work as part of a team to ensure the delivery of an effective, high quality cleaning service.

Main duties

• Open the Junior School buildings each morning and ensure that the premises are correctly secured in line with each individual buildings security arrangements and report any issues to the Cleaning Manager or Head of Maintenance;
• Follow allocated cleaning schedules set by the Cleaning Manager which are typically rotated every six months;
• Supervise Junior School Cleaning team and ensure they follow all cleaning schedules;
• Sign off weekly supervisor's audit sheets;
• Organise cover of areas when a team member is absent;
• Induct new starters;
• Induct all team members in the use of new equipment and solutions;
• Ensure cleaning products are available as required and order stock as appropriate;
• Work as part of a team to meet the school’s high standards of a first-class cleaning service across all areas of the site;
• Replenish stock in toilets and classrooms as required;
• Report any cleaning equipment needs to the Cleaning Manager;
• Ensure secure storage of cleaning products and equipment, in line with COSHH requirements;
• Comply with all Health and Safety legislation, report any concerns to the Cleaning Manager or the Head of Facilities;
• Attend INSED and other training relevant to the role;
• Support the Cleaning Manager with opening the Senior School if required;
• Carry out any other reasonable requests, in line with the broad responsibilities of the role.

Eltham College is a highly successful independent day school in south-east London, educating boys and girls aged 7 to 18 across both Junior and Senior Schools. The College has grown considerably over recent years: there are now over 800 students in the Senior School and around 260 pupils in the Junior School and places are heavily oversubscribed. Since 2020, girls have been able to join Years 3 and 7, mirroring the Sixth Form which has been coeducational for over 45 years. The school places an equal emphasis on academic, pastoral and co-curricular excellence and has an outstanding reputation in all three areas as well as for the friendly, unpretentious nature of daily life.
