Job description
Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join their team as a Senior Vet. Located in the picturesque seaside town of Weymouth on the Dorset coast, their purpose-built premises boast modern equipment, a supportive team and a commitment to providing outstanding care to their patients.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure animal welfare is the top priority in delivering appropriate attention to animals in your care.
- Utilize knowledge of animal physiology, nutrition and medicine to diagnose illnesses, prescribe medications and perform imaging tests, laboratory tests and surgery.
- Contribute to the management, organization and financial performance of the practice.
- Provide support and guidance to colleagues, contributing to discussions on practice management.
- Deputise for Clinical Director(s) in their absence.
- Offer leadership and guidance to less experienced vets, supporting their professional development.
- Assume responsibility for surgical and medical cases at all times.
- Ensure safety of clients and staff during animal treatment or handling.
- Comply with legal obligations regarding prescription, safekeeping and supply of Veterinary medicinal products.
- Supervise, train and educate Veterinary Nurses.
- Treat colleagues and clients with courtesy and respect.
- Maintain personal CPD as per RCVS guidelines.
This a Full-time role for 40 hours per week, over 4 days. You will be based primarily in Weymouth with potential work at a nearby branch. The rota includes occasional sole-charge and 1 in 5 Saturdays but there are no OOH, providing a great work/life balance.
The clinic is located in the beautiful seaside town of Weymouth, with excellent transport links and excellent bus and train services.The clinic is in purpose-built premises with modern equipment. There is a well-equipped internal laboratory, digital x-ray, dental suites, endoscopy, laparoscopic surgical equipment, ultrasound and operating theatres. There is a supportive team and the client actively encourages development. The team of 5 vets, 15 Nurses, 9 Receptionists and the Practice Director work across 2 sites and have a passion for providing high-level care to patients.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a proven track record.
- Previous experience in sole charge.
- Strong communication skills, team leadership abilities.
- Thrives in a busy environment.
