Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering exclusively with a luxury travel business to recruit a dynamic and hands-on Assistant Accountant for their Cheltenham, Gloucestershire office. Joining a fast-paced and growing business you will report directly into the Finance Manager within a close-knit finance team, supporting in a variety of duties from financial transactional to management accounts support. This permanent full-time Assistant Accountant role is offering remote/office hybrid working and a study package if applicable, open to both AAT/CIMA/ACCA studiers or finance professionals who are qualified by experience. Your new role
Your key duties will involve taking the lead on all financial transactions processing for the company, including transactions relating to client's holidays, ensuring receipts are posted on the booking system, bank entries, payments to suppliers both in the UK and world-wide, and recording all transactions on the Sage financial system. You will support in management accounts preparation, prepayments, accruals, journals, weekly sales reporting, and ad-hoc financial reporting. You will assist in payroll preparation for the outsourced payroll provider, bank reconciliations and currency forecasting. You will investigate differences on the booking system and accrue all payments, as well as being involved in ad-hoc duties/projects for the senior management team.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this hands-on Assistant Accountant role, you will need some experience within a similar position, excellent numeracy skills and competency with a range of Microsoft packages, especially within MS Excel. The ability to work to tight deadlines with accuracy, key organisational skills, and strong communication skills to build both internal/external relationships at all levels. You will be able to maintain confidentiality with a positive and professional working approach. Be used to working within a team environment, but also using your own initiative, you will be a quick learner with experience in financial systems. Experience with Sage 50 packages and the travel or holiday sectors would be advantageous but not essential.
What you'll get in return
This permanent Assistant Accountant role is offering a salary between £28,000 - £33,000 per annum, dependable on experience, based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire with remote/office hybrid working.
