Job description

Swim England East Region is seeking to appoint an experienced and self-motivated individual to take on the role of Regional Manager and to manage a team to deliver an effective development programme. The successful applicant will prioritise the requirements of the region and be responsible for leading and guiding the development and governance within the region. Most importantly the role will be providing support and guidance for East Region clubs and their members. This role will play an instrumental part in driving and increasing the membership within the membership in the region by ensuring effective, self-sustaining clubs are at the heart of the region’s development. The region is supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who will need guidance to maintain the plans and budgets in place.
To succeed, the applicant will need to be results driven, demonstrate an understanding of Governance, possess leadership qualities, and ideally have management experience. Knowledge of the sector is essential. You will also require skills in managing people as will have responsibility for other staff members.

Whilst the majority of the role falls within core working hours there will be an expectation of flexibility to meet the needs of the region and work some unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends.

About You

In order to be shortlisted for the next stage in the process you must demonstrate within your application how you meet the following essential criteria:

Experience of working with volunteers and clubs
Experience of managing and leading teams
Ability to manage and support staff and volunteers to gain the most from each individuals skills
Track record of excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Experience working with and understanding good governance
Experience working within a fast paced environment with excellent time management skills
Experience of cultivating and maintaining stakeholder relationships
Degree or equivalent

Desirable

Experience or an understanding of sport development and the aquatics landscape
Experience of project management, including funding requests
Track record of working within standard operating procedures with a systematic approach to problems
Living in or knowledge of the region
