Job description

What you will do in your working day

•Fabricating components in mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and brass
•Projection and stud welding
•MIG and TIG welding
•Spot welding
•Gas Welding and brazing
•5 Axis Laser cutting, laser trimming pressed parts, laser welding using sophisticated off-line 3-D programming
•Tubular laser cutting using specialist machines for tubular profiling
•Flatbed laser cutting ranging from 3kw to 6kw

The training you will be getting

Formal training is delivered at  HWGTA located in Worcester (WR4 9GN):

Duration approximately 40-45 months.

Year 1 includes 26-42 weeks off the job training to cover practical and theory aspects based at our Training Centre.

Year 2 would include 1 day per week to complete EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge

Years 2,3 & 4 will be based in company developing skills in preparation for the end point assessment to gain your Metal Fabricator Level 3 qualification.

You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment.

There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme.
