Job description
We are recruiting a Social Worker at Caerphilly County Borough Council.
Working hours: 37 hours (Monday – Friday: 08:30 – 17:00)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.
This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Adult Services.
We pay an attractive salary of £36,648 - £39,186 and offer access to training and development opportunities.
There are three older peoples social work teams, two based at Ty Penallta Ystrad Mynach and one in the Rhymney Integrated Health & Social Care Centre.
There is significant emphasis on achieving high practice standards. The team is forward thinking, and the successful candidate will be required to practice in accordance with National Occupational Standards for Social Work and Code of Practice for Social Care Workers to deliver an effective social work service. An up to date working knowledge of current legislation and policy in Wales will be essential.
The post holder will manage a caseload and also contribute towards the duty function within the team. Those applying will need to have strong assessment skills together with an ability to ensure regular reviews and risk management. Where intervention is required, you will be expected to provide a proportionate and timely response and effectively manage varying priorities.
The post will involve undertaking integrated assessments; mental capacity assessments, risk assessments and developing care and support plans with the aim of managing risk and finding appropriate solutions to meet needs / achieve outcomes. Ensuring that older adults are protected from neglect and abuse is also a core component of the role. Emphasis is placed on teamwork and the role will entail working with various professionals. Applications from experienced as well as newly qualified social workers are welcomed and a structured induction will be provided.

For the role, we ask that you have:
Diploma / Degree in Social Work or predecessor qualification and successful completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within the first three years of practice (if qualified after 1st April 2016)
Knowledge of the current social care legislative framework and national drivers within Adult social care.
Registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales or equivalent regulators in England, Scotland or Northern Ireland.
Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to visit clients and attend meetings.
