Job description
Our client a highly acclaimed and dedicated costs specialist is seeking an a highly skilled costs lawyer to join their team. The ideal candidate should be highly versed in claimant matters specifically clinical negligence. The successful applicant will be responsible for reviewing drafting and negotiating legal costs.
- Reviewing legal bills and disbursements to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant rules and regulations
- Drafting bills of costs and preparing schedules of costs for submission to the court
- Negotiating costs with opposing solicitors and insurers
- Advising clients on the recoverability and reasonableness of costs
- Preparing and attending costs hearings and assessments
- Maintaining accurate and uptodate records of all costsrelated activities
- Keeping uptodate with changes to costs rules and regulations
- Providing guidance and training to junior members of the costs team
Requirements
- Qualified Costs Lawyer with at least 5 years of experience in claimant costs matters
- Strong knowledge of relevant costs rules and regulations including the Civil Procedure Rules and the Solicitors Act
- Experience of working with both conditional fee agreements and fixed fee arrangements
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proactive resultsoriented approach to work
- Experience of using costs drafting software
