LET’S TELL YOU MORE
Apprenticeship Programmes are a great way to earn and learn! Our Apprentice Environmental Practitioner Programme offers the perfect blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the core of our business. Entering an Apprenticeship scheme with us involves working towards the role of a fully-fledged professional, earning a salary, whilst also being able to maintain a sense of academic achievement. At Severn Trent we provide the perfect mix between hands-on experience and a formal qualification, enabling our apprentices to make a real lasting difference to our customers and communities, not just for now, but far into the future. You’ll be supported every step of the way, by your line manager and mentor.
You will be working within either our Biodiversity and Ecology team or Environmental Regulation team in Customer Operations, or our Asset Planning team in Chief Engineer.
Biodiversity and Ecology:
Within our Biodiversity and Ecology team you will help us to promote and protect the natural environment we work in and the challenges and opportunities that brings. In your daily work, you interact with junior and senior members of your team, as well as external partners and stakeholders. With a balance of office and field visits, you’ll work with technical specialists both within and beyond your profession, for example, environmental scientists and consultants, environmental impact assessors, and ecologists.
Environmental Regulation:
In our Environmental Regulation team you will be at the forefront of protecting the environment each and everyday. This will mean understanding how the design and build of new assets translates into operations and ensuring we are identifying emerging environmental issues. You will receive a background into regulation within a practical setting with opportunities across the whole water cycle.
Asset Planning:
Within Asset Planning in Chief Engineer you would be working on the capital programme to improve river health. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to learn new skills on your journey to becoming an expert hydraulic modeller, working with water quality specialists to determine what solution is required to meet an obligation and our fair share in removing harm due to intermittent discharges of overflows. You will be helping to coordinate surveys and getting out and about attending site visits to help in your understanding of our asset performance and our impacts on the environment.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN
Within our Biodiversity & Ecology, Environemental Regulation or Asset Planning team you will complete the Level 6 Environmental Practitioner (Degree) Apprenticeship standard, allowing you to develop the skills & experience required to become an expert.
